The Ridges in Athens, Ohio, is a 65,032 sq m Kirkbride Plan hospital. Designed by Levi Tucker Scofield with grounds designed by landscape architect Herman Haerlin and gardener George Link. Opening as the Athens Lunatic Asylum in 1874, this hospital operated for over a century before closing in 1993, following a transfer of stewardship to Ohio University in 1988.
